The Power of Connection

ARE YOU MISSING WHAT’S RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU?

One of my clients recently had a powerful realization: she had been so caught up in the busyness of work that she realized she didn’t truly know some of her family and friends.

So she set a simple intention: for one week, she would be fully present and curious in every interaction—with everyone she encountered. She asked thoughtful questions. She listened without multitasking. She paused long enough to notice what was being said—and what wasn’t.

The result? She reconnected with a friend in a way that surprised her. She saw parts of her she had never noticed. They laughed, shared stories, and talked about things that mattered.

Of course, the friend wasn’t new—she had been there all along. But by seeing her with fresh eyes and an open heart, my client experienced a completely different kind of connection. It became the highlight of her week.

CURIOSITY IS THE GATEWAY

You don’t have to wait for the perfect moment to connect. The opportunities are in the coffee break, the school pickup, the elevator ride, the Sunday dinner.

Connection doesn’t require more time. It requires more intention.

The key? Curiosity. The kind that invites someone to share what matters to them, what lights them up, what makes them them.

CONNECTION QUESTIONS

Here are some questions to try—each one a chance to go deeper:

  • What’s something you’re into right now that I might not know about?

  • If your life had chapters, what title would you give this one?

  • When do you feel most calm and grounded these days?

  • What do you wish the most for in your life?

  • What’s something you’ve changed your mind about in the past few years?

  • What do you wish more people knew about you?

  • What are you doing today that your future self will thank you for?

  • What do you want to grow into during this next season of your life?

  • What are you here to learn—and what are you here to teach?

  • What is whispering to you that you haven’t made time to hear?

  • What is something new you have done or learned recently, and what motivated you to pursue it?

These questions aren’t about getting answers. They’re about opening doors. They can transform everyday interactions into something sacred. They can help you see someone not just as they are, but as they are becoming.

Because in the end, it’s not how many people we know—it’s how well we know them.
