How to Balance During Pitta Season

HOW TO BALANCE DURING PITTA SEASON

Pitta season is here (aka. it's summer)! This means that we have to do a little extra to keep pitta in balance. Since pitta is made up of fire and water, we have to bring in more space, air and earth into our routines. Pitta balancing qualities are heavy, cool, dry, soft, slow and balancing tastes are sweet, bitter, astringent. So, how do you include these qualities in your every day life? A few suggestions are listed below.

1.Movement between 6-10 AM and 6-10 PM (Kapha time)

2.Take a 10-15 minute walk when the air has cooled at night

3.Lighten your schedule where possible - slow down

4.Include more leafy green veggies and sweet fruit in your diet 5.Reduce hot spices

6.Try a cooling body massage with coconut or olive oil before your shower

7.Shitali Pranayama (breath work)

Sitting in a comfortable position, curl the tongue like the beak of a crow.

While inhaling, suckle the air, creating the sound of bubbling water. Exhale through the nose.
